Kyrie Irving has agreed to a three-year, $126 million USD deal to return to the Dallas Mavericks, his agent Shetellia Riley-Irving confirmed to ESPN on Friday. The deal includes a player option for the third year.
Irving, 31, was traded to the Mavericks from the Brooklyn Nets in February. He averaged 27.1 points and 5.5 assists in 26 games with Dallas, helping the team reach the Western Conference Finals.
The Mavericks are now looking to build on their success from last season and contend for a championship with Irving and Luka Doncic leading the way. Irving is a seven-time All-Star and one of the most talented guards in the NBA. He is known for his incredible scoring ability and his ability to create his own shot.
The management's decision to bring back Irving is a gamble, but it is one that could pay off big time. If Irving can stay healthy and committed, he could be the missing piece that helps the Mavericks win their first championship since 2011.
